This is why America is not, and has never been a democracy. A democracy requires compulsory voting. The benefits of a democracy come with a cost, and that cost is showing up or mailing in every 4 years. Small price.

Agreed. But the fallacy in that argument is that older Americans somehow are more prepared for the civic responsibility of voting. Younger Americans will be affected by today’s policy decisions for their entire adult lives. They can and should help decide them.
