I've wondered. The House impeaching is the same as someone being charged with a crime. But a jury acquitting someone means they are no longer charged and are forever innocent. When Trump is acquitted in the Senate, wouldn't that mean the claim of Trump being Impeached is undone?

Here, in the Federalist Papers, Hamilton was justifying the separation of accusing and judging between the two houses, saying that is sufficient. I don't think it releases the House from basing its accusation on "high Crimes & Misdemeanors" rather than political whim.
