It’s funny how so many in the mainstream news media have suddenly become intelligence skeptics again.
The problem with anonymous-sourced news predates Trump & goes beyond Trump.

I think what you are missing here is that Trump is far crazier, more unstable, more dangerous than prior individuals discussed from anonymous sources in the past. It does not seem at all a far leap to presume a greater statistical likelihood of anon. sources being true re: Donald

That's exactly the trap that activist-minded journalism falls into: "if this guy is bad, we should take less care to determine if things said about him are true." No, actually, you should take the same care if you think the truth is damning enough.

and of course, given Trump's authoritarian tendencies & erratic style, there are far more instances here, TODAY, where sources and ppl will want to stay anonymous, like the writer of the Anonymous letter who said they discussed 25th Amendment . And any who deal with him now.
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

while yes, it is on the face of it (of course) true that anon. sources as a condition of politics predated Donald J. Trump by far....it seems you are dodging my point or deflating it by saying 'well, that's just the way it's always gone, isn't it? Can't know WHO to believe, EVER'
-
We should believe things about Trump for the same reasons we believe them about anyone: on the basis of reliable evidence. Uncorroborated anonymous sources are not that, against him or anyone.
