Britain's Parliament dates back to the reign of Edward I, who went on to expel the Jews from England in 1290. Unlike anti-Semitism on the Continent, British attitudes towards Jews well into the 19th century were shaped more by their absence than by resentment of neighbors.

After the mid-19th century, when Parliament finally seated Lionel Rothschild, & a converted Jew (Benjamin Disraeli) rose to Prime Minister, Britain began to move beyond that medieval view of its tiny Jewish population, but it's a long history distinct from both the US & Europe.

Converted away from Judaism and very hostile to it for most of his life. I would not say Disraeli is a good example of toleration of Jews.

He had some very eccentric religious ideas, & also was defensive about insisting he was a Christian. But while he'd never have made P.M. as a faithful Jew in Victorian Britain, the very fact of his rise was a first step. And he did help the push to seat Rothschild.

Eventually. Not at first. It was a ridiculously long process.

Agreed. More drawn-out than Catholic emancipation, which was itself a big fight in Britain of the day.

BUT it was indeed an amazing move to get from Disraeli/Gladstone to Balfour in a short time.

So short that Balfour served under both of them.
