Civic engagement is terrible and schools shouldn't allow kids to take time off to be around crackpot adults yelling rote inane garbage at either each-other or at no-one in particular. Regardless of what kind of school it is or how much taxes they pay

So long as the school district does not tell students which political protests are acceptable/unacceptable, what is your concern?

I wonder which of these doesn’t discriminate for the type of protests students participate in? Because that one is content neutral and encourages broad civic engagement while the other one is political activism mascarading as a non-political, tax free organization.

Also, when public schools get off for Election Day and Teacher conferences, remember Catholic Schools give the day off for All Saints Day, the Immaculate Conception, and the Ascension of Jesus!

The policy is one excused absence for protest or civic engagement, it doesn’t say WHAT they should protest or what political stance. So really the student could choose to do anything
