Current RCP poll average shows impeachment & removal at 47.2 Yes vs 48.0 No nationally, 41.3 Yes vs 46.3 No among independents. Removal of a president is, more or less by design, not going to happen in those circumstances.

I think Trump's conduct crosses the line of what *should* be impeachable, but I share some of

I for one have no problems if the POTUS pressures foreign governments to investigate corruption involving federal officials, elected or not, as long as there's cause. In fact, I think they should do it.

They use use official channels, e.g. MLAT, so that there's less of a chance that political considerations will influence the process.

"Impeachment of a president requires bipartisan popular consensus." In today's tribal and dysfunctional political and popular environment that will never happen. Regardless, there remains a moral and ethical imperative to address an unfit President that cannot be ignored.
