As I've said before, if there was a realistic path to broad-based bipartisan popular support for using impeachment to replace Trump with Pence, I'd be all for it. There isn't. It's not even a clear majority position among independents.

Legitimately elected presidents should not be removed lightly, especially when the voters are about to have their say anyway. The people clearly have not formed a strong consensus for removing Trump before the election. I don't blame anyone in Congress for listening to that.

Is Trump's conduct abuse of office? Yes. Arguably impeachable? Yes. Slam-dunk, no-doubt, must-impeach-today? No. Even Democrats have at no point acted as if they believe it is that urgent or obvious. So all that remains is partisan posturing.
