As I've said before, if there was a realistic path to broad-based bipartisan popular support for using impeachment to replace Trump with Pence, I'd be all for it. There isn't. It's not even a clear majority position among independents.

Legitimately elected presidents should not be removed lightly, especially when the voters are about to have their say anyway. The people clearly have not formed a strong consensus for removing Trump before the election. I don't blame anyone in Congress for listening to that.

Is Trump's conduct abuse of office? Yes. Arguably impeachable? Yes. Slam-dunk, no-doubt, must-impeach-today? No. Even Democrats have at no point acted as if they believe it is that urgent or obvious. So all that remains is partisan posturing.

There's nothing wrong with partisan posturing! We're a democratic republic. Make your case to the voters. But we can dispense with the pretense that anything else will happen.

I would be very interested to see the “enthusiasm” of these impeach-and -remove polls. Are these people gung-ho or more of a “yeah sure kick the guy out.” Are they firebrands or going along with the popular urban-democrat consensus?
