Legal merits aside, spending years accusing Trump of treason, bribery, & collusion and then impeaching him for none of those things *but including an article on obstruction of Congress* as one of the 2 charges seems like disastrously inside-Beltway politics.

If I was a Democrat, I'd likely support impeaching Trump *precisely because impeachment under these circumstances is an exercise in political messaging.* The House can, if it likes, use impeachment to make a case of presidential unfitness ahead of an election. But then sell that!

Not one vote is going to change to Trump's detriment next November by accusing Trump of refusing to help Congress remove him from office. I just don't see the political rationale.

This couldn’t be any more undermining of the rule of law. It wasn’t just him invoking the fifth; he ordered key witnesses to completely ignore subpoenas. Maybe you don’t actually practice law? Ignoring subpoenas severely undermines the search for truth and can’t be tolerated
-
Happens often, the courts then have to decide if the subpoenas are legit, just because they request it doesn't mean they automatically get it, presidents have been fighting subpoenas since subpoenas started

(1) Can POTUS actually obstruct Congress or is it a separation of power flex? (2) Is it obstruction if Dems choose to forego litigating subpoena issue and run straight to impeachment?

No. He wasn’t elected to give Congress the finger. That’s inside the beltway nonsense. You’re really bad at this.

I don't think there's much question about the middle finger (not necessarily to Congress specifically).
@CrankyTRex had it figured out over a year before the election. http://crankytrex.blogspot.com/2015/08/trump-is-fuck-you-candidate.html …Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

“I don't endorse those sentiments” Wait, what? People have an obligation to “help” people investigate them for wrongdoing?!? Never complain about statism or authoritarianism again.

Uhhh, #2 is literally part of the Constitution. And I live right down the street from Arlington National Cemetary, the resting place of thousands who thought the Constitution was a hill worth dying on.
