It's not that Trump has to be right it's that the Crowdstrike = Ukraine conspiracy theory exonerates Putin of election interference, which would end sanctions put in place by GOP Congress/likely end US assistance for Ukraine's resistance to Putin's invasion. A twofer for Putin.

There are 2 elements to the Russia interference issue. 1) hacking DNC servers for emails.. 2) using social media. #1 is not proven and was not properly investigated. #2 was done by many many countries including Ukraine - see WaPo. Trump is not arguing #2. But you are.
