On this I think you are mistaken. I do far more automotive repairs now that I did in my youth. Why? The interweb & YouTube. I can diagnose my car for nothing & then YouTube will tell me how to repair it, & I can buy my parts online for a fraction of what they'd cost at a store.

Interesting. I do a ton of home stuff this way. (Better than my dad's "How to Do It Encyclopedia," but not much car stuff. Might be worth trying.
