I remain convinced that Stephen A. Smith hit the nail on the head: Kaep doesn't want to play anymore. Too much risk. His long-term story will play a lot better if he's a martyr. If he was truly desperate for another shot, he'd be playing anywhere that would take him (CFL? XFL?).

And any team knows that if they sign him to be a backup and the starter falters even slightly, ESPN and other lefty outlets will bang the drum that Kaep deserves a chance and he's a political prisoner on the bench. Not worth it.
