"The size, scope, and intrusiveness of government in America has declined since the 1950s" is some kind of take, all right. https://twitter.com/jeffspross/status/1197769011439775745 …

I mean, if we limit this to spending & limit spending to federal spending....https://www.mercatus.org/publications/government-spending/high-levels-government-spending-become-status-quo …

Always half the story, Dan - increased GDP output = increased gov't spending.

Wow it's crazy how we're spending so much more money since 1950 even though there aren't any more people... Wait.

The article specifically breaks spending down on a per-person level.

I doubt he's talking about defense spending.

PJ O’Rourke addresses this better than a graph. Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and the car keys to a teenage boy.

even this chart attributes FY2009's deficit to Bush, when in fact the final spending bills for that fiscal year were signed by Obama months after Bush left office and including the near trillion dollar 'stimulus' package of pet pork.

it is outright dishonest to attribute all of that deficit to Bush when the senate neither passed his budget nor did Bush sign what they did pass but you can't credit Obama with deficit reduction otherwise
