GOP support for Trump and opposition to impeachment are both around 90 percent in the last dozen or so major polls. When those numbers change, we can talk about Republicans on the Hill looking for a way out. Until then, it's all a lot of sound and fury.

Right. I agree with the general premise: the party would abandon Trump once there is widespread voter sentiment that it's likelier to win without him. I think in reality that sentiment is higher than 10%, but it is nowhere near the level needed to rip the Band-Aid.
