The duty of conservative commentators is to say what is true & obvious: Trump has abused the powers of his office. That doesn't mean we have a duty to yell at GOP Senators for not engaging in a suicide mission their voters don't want, when the voters will soon enough have a say.

As I've said before, if you have a practical plan to get the voters on board with replacing Trump at the head of the GOP, I'm all for it. I'm casting a protest vote in the primary. But I do not see the bipartisan popular support that historically is required to remove a POTUS.

Sometimes you prosecute a case because its the right thing to do, not because you know you'll definitely get the verdict.

Would be nice if left-of-center people reacted to this sort of commentary from the right with something aside from barely-contained glee.

here you go- I’m bummed that this is where we are, not much to be gleeful about on the American political front no matter one’s POV

You do realize perpetuating the false narrative that it’s futile to get to 20 helps maintain a reality where we don’t get to 20. Of course you realize that. It’s why you do it. You don’t want 20 senators, and you want Trump to remain in office.
