But only slightly — we’re talking 3.95% of pop vs 4.25%? That was my point: for all the grumbling about low viewership, it’s actually about what we had then. (Maybe more with online viewers) The idea that everyone was glued to the TV from the start is nonsense.

My favorite TV viewership factoid: 80 million people watched the Reagan-Carter debate. 87 million voted a week later. THAT is an audience.
