"It's political" doesn't mean "there are no rules and nothing matters", obviously. In a political proceeding, we should still be aiming at the truth and should avoid getting bogged down in distractions. We also should abide by basic rules of moral decency.

Yes, it's political, and if there are any Republicans in Congress who've not already decided how to vote on impeachment, it's perfectly reasonable for them to consider Schiff's maneuvering on the whistleblower & other issues under the heading of 'Fairness and Openness'.
