I was excited about this until I realized who was directing it. He has at best made a handful of movies with a few good scenes in them. Not one of his movies has ever been good overall.

A lot of people who haven't seen it didn't like it much. I did. The effects were spectacular and there were a lot of details that I hadn't seen in other movies in the genre.

If you're looking for a movie with great dialog you might as well skip war movies entirely, maybe watch The Philadelphia Story or Miller's Crossing. When I watch a war movie I want something cinematic, immersive and adrenal.
