If due process doesn't exist in impeachment, over what does the Chief Justice preside? It's still a trial requiring conviction, so while it might not be the same level of due process as criminal (felony or misdemeanor), I still think due process rights exist

But if impeachment doesn’t implicate due process concerns then shouldn’t lack of fairness/transparency in the process be immaterial? The trial itself should allow for the president to contest the substance of the charges, examine the evidence etc..
