Note: the $52 trillion price tag for Warren's health care plan is a ten-year number. That comes to an annual average cost of over $5 trillion, more than the *entire current federal budget*. But Warren's not proposing this for ten years. She's proposing it *forever*.

So, the actual total price tag is far in excess of $52 trillion. And financing by confiscating wealth, as opposed to annual inflows like income, is a finite resource. This is designed to be unsustainable.

Well, to be fair, it only has to be sustained until November 3, 2020.

And this is even before we get into how unrealistic the projection is. That classic CBO disease of underestimating spending and revenue from tax hikes.

If you extrapolate from the Canadian healthcare data, the cost in the U.S. would be less than $2 trillion annually and I can vouch for the efficacy of the Canadian system: https://www.cihi.ca/en/health-spending …

It isn't unsustainable if the amount of the tax is lower than the long term returns on capital.

Lol. I don’t support the wealth tax but the idea it’s finite is ridiculous. The very wealthy grow their assets at a higher rate than the tax.

Medicare for all could be funded through a 25% Value Added Tax, which is how the European states fund their social programs. Good luck running on that.
