New York Times v Sullivan was literally a case about a newspaper running a paid political ad.https://twitter.com/JayCaruso/status/1187349819397984256 …
Whether you treat it as a platform or a publisher, Sullivan illustrates the hazards of holding either responsible for vetting the content of the political ads they run.

If Facebook published content that they were aware was false, do you think that would meet an actual malice standard? The difficulty of making such a claim isn't lost on me, but Zuckerberg seemed to suggest that Facebook has no obligation even under these circumstances.

Interesting. So, if Sullivan applies now, I wonder if publishers like NYT or WaPo have to fact check all their ads or just political ones. I'm not sure how many msm outlets fact check their own content let alone paid ads.
