From the perspective of Republican politics & conservative policy - which, like it or not, are mutually dependent for the foreseeable future - which of these impeachment/2020 re-election outcomes do you think is least bad?

You don't understand Trump voters.

Are you saying Trump voters would rally around Pence if Trump was removed from office against his will by R senators? A lot would, but I suspect enough would walk off in a huff to put Pence in a bad bind.

Why Pence in option 3?

Would be hard to mount a primary to an incumbent.

I don’t know about that. An entire year of Pence and a return to normalcy vs. Warren: seems like a strong case to stick with Pence

Ok, but I would still prefer Pence over Trump and/or any Democrat.

I suspect 2 is the worst. Because conventional wisdom says acquiting Trump helps Trump win re-election. If he lost despite that, it means he did something really dumb, the market goes down sharply or independents view him as a worse evil than any Dem.

Oh, right, least bad. I cannot read it seems. Errr... least bad is 3, as it flushes Team Trump out so the GOP can slowly distance themselves. Pence is now a part of that.
