I think the best educator is liturgy done right. Lex orandi lex credendi. And the Church has decimated the actual liturgy since VII which has in turn decimated the faith of churchgoers. The Catechism is nice, but a tattered liturgy will never be overcome by anything.

Yes, but that inevitably varies by the priest and the attention span of the listener. The catechism is the rulebook, and explains not just what we believe - from ontology to morals - but why. Many a heresy could be avoided by reading the authoritative source.

This is a big problem in Protestant churches, but I didn't realize that it was also in Catholicism. Both Protestants & Catholics need to understand what Christianity teaches (& why), or they will be swept away by the culture. This includes early church history.
