That's not as dark & nefarious as some critics suggest, but it's also not a good characteristic in the leader of a republic & Leader of the Free World. He says nice things about the likes of Xi because they're doing business; that's all there is to it, for better & worse.

Except non-authoritarian leaders aren’t fully “in-charge.” They can be overridden by legislators, etc. If Xi or Kim want to make a deal, they can do so. BoJo or even Merkel can’t without making domestic compromises.
