Note for readers: this has already been debunked. The whistleblower rules weren't changed, and, of course, if you look at the whistleblower statute, it never had a requirement limiting complaints to those with first-hand knowledge. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1178651638313226240 …

No Gabriel, it hasn't been debunked. As I noted in my article the question is whether the IG ACCEPTED complaints before Trump based on second hand information. Maybe they did, but the language quoted indicates otherwise. You are right the statute doesn't require it, but that's 1

There's a couple of different questions here. Sean's article said that the form had been changed. This piece argues in some detail that there was not actually a material change to the form. Do you have something showing that's wrong? https://www.thedailybeast.com/gop-shows-russian-trolls-how-its-done-with-trump-inspector-general-whistleblower-smear …

Sudar, you need to read the Daily Beast article to understand the debate we are having. Dan isn't being dense, he's pushing back--and honest push-back is always appreciated. But as my article noted, which form, if any, doesn't matter--it's the policy. But form raised issue.pic.twitter.com/00JgQEf7qx

No, I think at this point @baseballcrank and @gabrielmalor are marking different points than I, in other words we aren't having the same debate. I'm engaging trying to get on same page and welcome to the same debate. I do not find either of these gentlemen dishonest ever.

I'm literally just trying to figure out if Sean's original piece has actually been rebutted. There are multiple pieces here.

Thanks Dan. Yes, multiple pieces & I don't know what all forms said or when. But my piece is on policy-not forms, other than that form language suggests policy was not to accept complaints based on second-hand info at some point. That hasn't been debunked & on that I want answerspic.twitter.com/Z6KLTf2QKx

You're correct. The point the rebuttals are trying to do, is obscure what the original problem was: Second hand info doesn't rise to the level of urgent concern, & isn't reported to congress. Dems were shrieking that DNI didn't send WB report to them.
