It's silly to say we have a single, monolithic "Deep State," but you don't have to be a Trump partisan to find it dangerous & unsustainable for a significant segment of the intelligence & national security bureaucracy to be dedicated to taking down the Commander-in-Chief.

Do I think Trump is to blame for a good deal of that? Yes. But resistance from the bureaucracy to the elected Commander-in-Chief has been a problem before. And I fear that the end result of Trump's presidency will be to strengthen this tendency.

The CIA did it to GW Bush. Hung him out to dry for their own shoddy work. Was it his fault too? Or is he forgiven because he was too much of a gentleman to fight back against the lies? All I can say is: if it walks like a Deep State, and it quacks like a Deep State...

According to some accounts I’ve heard or read, the CIA was the driving force behind the Bay of Pigs and JFK was sort of forced into it. IDK, though.

Unquestionably the plan - already approved by Ike - was not JFK's idea. Buck stops with POTUS, though.
