Never a bad time to be reminded that, once upon a long ago, Rod Stewart actually was one of our greatest and most inspiring rock/folk artists.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poaOlVSMTrM …

Seriously, we need to get somebody onto
@Political_Beats to do Rod & the Faces. Imagine an entire show built around a "YOU MUST BUY THIS 4CD BOXED SET RATHER THAN ANY OF THE ALBUMS" pitch and I've had it ready to go for 15 years now.7 replies 0 retweets 14 likesShow this thread -
Things that were once taken as common knowledge/accepted wisdom often get lost over time, so let me emphasize: Rod Stewart's first four albums (THE ROD STEWART ALBUM, GASOLINE ALLEY, EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY, NEVER A DULL MOMENT) are still, to this very day, utterly thrilling.

I've been on a Faces kick, inspired by you guys talking them up on the soundtracks episode. *Some* of his later work is good too, but it gets a lot more uneven as the cheese factor rises.

I hope to hell you have the FIVE GUYS WALK INTO A BAR... boxed set. That's the only way to ever listen to the Faces. None of the actual albums even remotely compare.

I do not. I went and bought The Best of The Faces on iTunes. I assume you will tell me I chose poorly.

I am not joking when I say that it is the best, and most important, boxed set ever released. It's that good.
