Constitutional conservatism recognizes that the majority always wins in the long run. That's not the same as saying that one majority, one time gets to make fundamental, in many cases irreversible changes to the country. Our system is built to require broad, sustained majorities.

I support the standard, incredibly successful model of liberal-democracy, including charters of rights that require super-majorities to change. I don't support impossible amendment procedures and judicial review by courts controlled by counter-majoritarian electoral bodies.

Our amendment procedures are not impossible, having been used 27 times. And courts are not supposed to be current-majoritarian, they're supposed to enforce the will of the majorities or supermajorities that gave us written law.pic.twitter.com/iQDNd3bNgf
