I remember Debbie Harry on the Muppet Show, but I had not yet started paying attention to radio.

Like the Tubes and Starship ,( Jefferson Airplane) ,The Kinks J Geils annoyed a lot of their fans (me included) with this early 80's pop crap. It was great financially for them, but deviated from who they were.

Their bluesier 70s stuff is good, but those 3 tracks from Freeze Frame are still the best music they ever made.

I asked for the album Freeze Frame for Christmas that year. Oddly, my parents refused not because of the song Centerfold, but because of another song, Piss on the Wall. Looking back, both were probably inappropriate.

I remember singing along to “Afternoon Delight” when I was about 8 years old, having absolutely no idea what the song was about.
