Even in an era of political hardball, the NC GOP legislature using the absence of Democrats attending a 9/11 memorial to override a budget veto is outrageous.https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/shame-you-north-carolina-gop-votes-override-veto-while-democrats-n1052466 …

Here is some pushback on that story (which I'd waited most of the day to see reported by a mainstream news org)https://twitter.com/RaleighReporter/status/1171893311537180672 …

Colin CampbellVerified account @RaleighReporterSo much misinformation going around the#ncga today: -Only one Democratic House member has been confirmed as attending a 9/11 event during the override vote -Text message exchange included in a WRAL story (but reposted elsewhere without link) is between a reporter and Rep. Some useful context here, but for all the local & national outlets reporting on this story, not one has actually pinned down whether the one Democrat known to be absent at a 9/11 event was the only one:https://twitter.com/sistertoldjah/status/1172208146976321537 …

Two things: 1. I'm not sure it's accurate to say that an afternoon WaPo report was what triggered a story a Slate writer was pushing all morning. 2. NC GOP doesn't know how to do communications. I saw zero pushback all day from typically sympathetic outlets.

At this point, the confirmed reporting shows that
@mjs_DC had the facts wrong about it being more than one legislator (one reason I didn't react to this story when it first circulated): https://hotair.com/archives/ed-morrissey/2019/09/12/wapo-clarification-second-thought-maybe-nc-gop-didnt-exploit-9-11-memorial-override-cooper-veto/ …pic.twitter.com/i6Lh5AYjeU

Also this means
@ChazBeasley flat-out lied about this, unless he's prepared to come forward with proof the News & Observer report was wrong.1 reply 1 retweet 7 likesShow this thread -
It does seem that the people on the left side of the aisle who were yelling from the rooftops about the NC GOP story yesterday have now gone....awfully quiet about it.

I see Stern & Beazley are still at odds with the News & Observer report that only one NC Dem legislator was out at a 9/11 event.https://twitter.com/mjs_DC/status/1171895279152455683 …
