The progressive narrative about guns, law enforcement & incarceration does not really make room for the fact that gun homicide deaths in America are vastly lower than they were 25 years ago.

Pretty sure licensing would lower the rate—that’s the evidence we have so far. Rhetoric of futility arguments such as this are not often persuasive by themselves. As for suicide, difficult to argue that the rate wouldn’t decline too—its often an event of spontaneity.

If we confiscated cars there would be less car accidents as well.

@baseballcrank Over 50% of suicides are by gun. Only about 6% of unsuccessful suicide attempts are by gun. “Suicide is mostly not a matter of guns” is an asinine statement. -
Japan has a higher suicide rate than the US despite having almost no guns. Other countries, too. It’s absolutely not a matter of guns.

@baseball Access to a gun makes a quick decision by a mentally unstable person so much easier. Discounting suicides by gun is ridiculous. All deaths are bad.
