The key to understanding this phenomenon - which thwarts commerce between willing sellers & willing buyers - is that it is in most cases not driven by net customer demand.https://twitter.com/benshapiro/status/1169258358240473090 …

The Left has found a new way of implementing policy from the top down, without the use of government: simply pressure massive corporations to do their political bidding. https://twitter.com/realDailyWire/status/1168966023497867267 …

Clearly Walmart was not a willing seller here.

It's not as clear-cut as when sponsor boycotts take out the ability to communicate with customers, but this is clearly a case of elite pressure on the top rather than a response to customer demand.

And this view is based on 2020 candidates calling for Walmart to change its policy, correct?

That is one of a great many things this view is based on. This is not an incident that emerged from the ether independent of all other events, or independent of trends in this space.

We both know this is not what's happening, but I will leave you to that pretense.

I’m with Baseball Crank. It’s clear what must be done: government intervention to require Walmart to sell guns.

There's some fairness in this lefty line of attack. Under fusionism, conservatives adopted a philosophy that downplayed systemic problems with large corporations. Now that large corporations are systematically oppressing conservatives, it's fair to point out the irony.

and, to basically say "you made your bed, now lie in it." Fair point! Maybe the new right-wing party after the GOP collapses can have, as part of its platform, trust-busting, for self-interested reasons if nothing else.

How is it not the free market? Government policy didn’t make Wal-Mart change on this.
