The most British of all British things is the fact that the government has functioned with neither a written constitution nor a revolution since 1689. Everybody just sort of collectively agreed to let the government keep doing business & evolve in form without express consent.

Yup. It's truly legislative, not super-legislative. The "Constitution" today really is nothing like what it was 100 years ago, say.
