Texas sets national textbook standards. And throughout the South, it's still taught as a War of Northern Aggression about economics and freedom, not the Slavers' Rebellion it actually was.

Given the divide between what we learned about American History in school and how it actually unfolded for the people who did not write the books, David's point is well taken. It may not be right-wingery, but it's certainly implicit bias toward white supremacy.
