Why was it controversial? That he made the banal observation that personal achievement is never merely personal? Or that he made a second banal observation that owners of businesses “did not build” the infra structure their businesses rely upon? What was the objection?

As best I can make sense of it, his article boils down to: "Pence is an elitist and not the populist he pretends to be, and my proof is that he's always had white-collar jobs and probably criticized the local media way too much when he hosted a talk radio show."
