There's a reason why the British Army's campaigns in the Revolution were mostly conducted between Boston & Philadelphia from 1775 to 1778.

They had certain areas of strength amongst the plantation class, actually, but when it got into the Piedmont, the Scots/Irish militias were firmly Patriot (as you can imagine) and very effective.
