Are we doing that thing again where each individual action by progressives in politics, media, academia & entertainment is considered in isolation from all the others?

I’m doing the thing where I say that talking about the impact of slavery on American life is no more divisive than “the impact of slavery on American life” and talking about the history of slavery is a positive good.

Funny how when liberals say they want to “talk about America’s history,” it always end up being lectures for the rest of us commoners as if we didn’t know about slavery. The NYT editor’s own tweet and TL clearly shows she has a reductionist view of American history and culture.

Same editor, you may recall, who ended up having to apologize for misusing Frederick Douglass against Ted Cruz. Everybody should read & admire Frederick Douglass. He would be appalled to think anyone today regarded him as their exclusive property.
