Not really. You can still make original films. Just don’t expect them to earn a billion.
It's easier to write a novel on a shoestring budget than to make a film on one.

Well it costs zero to write a novel so that is literally true but both the plummeting cost of filmmaking and willingness of A-list actors to work for scale have greatly lowered barriers to entry which is why the no of films released has skyrocketed
