My wife has embraced the KonMari method. And it's fan-freaking-tastic. https://www.marthastewart.com/2124915/marie-kondo-messy-home-interview?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=social-share-article …

I led a charge with my friends on #konmari 3 years ago and now I buy books, read them, give away. I also went totally paper free. Nothing left.

That's fine if you mostly read disposable novels. It is a very bad way to approach the reading of history or political philosophy.

The #konmarj theory is you’ve read the book. The knowledge is inside you. We rarely reread books. (I kept only the ones I do — bibles, CS Lewis.) Books collect a lot of dust, literally.

You remember everything from all the books you read? That's a cool superpower.

That’s the *theory* — we don’t need to keep books after reading them. Just clutter.

I own a little more than 5,000 books, approximately a third of which were published before 1900. Clutter.

Give away the books ! It’s so much more gratifying than hoarding them.
