Right. You can adjust a few minor factors here and there and of course you've created a "unique" set of circumstances. But the underlying causative factor remains the perception they have of how America's population has "changed" due to a significant increase in foreign born pop.

I understood your point. I believe it ignores just how foreign based our population was as recent as say 1900. 39% of the white population was "of foreign parentage" per 1900 census (almost all non-white pop. was native born which skews the overall foreign born %).

Point is, even of the native born population, 26.5% were of foreign parentage. You're making a narrower point that I don't think most of the people railing against "invaders" are cognizant of or take into account. The "unique" thing is 40s - 80s when foreign born % was low.
