2-Lincoln, Stanton & Chase each PERSONALLY scout locations by boat; Lincoln even sets foot behind enemy lines, the 2d POTUS to do so (Madison accidentally did so in 1814). Lincoln orders a raid, the Confederates scuttle the ironclad as they fall back. Problem solved.

Absolute shocker that he found McClellan doing nothing.

At the same time, Halleck is advancing on Corinth at an even slower pace than McClellan on Richmond & Jackson embarrassing three Union separate armies in the valley. Summer 1862 would be a trying time for Lincoln.
