Dismissing every incident of this nature one at a time as a one-off is how you end up with no guardrails.
You can argue that guardrails aren't important, if you like. I'd observe that mainstream ideas typically start on the fringes, that the Overton Window is a concept explicitly embraced by progressive activists, & that my lifetime has seen many examples of it denied until ready.

Of course I think guardrails are important, which is why I rant about it a lot. I also think a sense of gravity and grounding is important, which is why I am not terribly concerned about a ban on meat winding its way through the Senate.
