So I oppose abolishing the filibuster. But has it really been a disaster? Does anyone actually believe that McConnell wouldn’t have gone nuclear the minute Democrats filibustered judges or at the very least Gorsuch?

It eliminated any argument against doing so. Mitch doesn't get ahead of his caucus, some of whom would otherwise have been much more hesitant to do that.

Abolishing filibuster will be more important to accomplishing ipolicy goals of Dems (climate, guns) than helpful to Reps unwinding programs, which typically become popular (see ACA). If this weren't true, Mitch would have already abolish. Little less stability, lot more progress.

Reid's only mistake was waiting as long as he did.

Could've had a full 6 years of Obama's judges getting approved in the Senate instead of waiting until November 2013

I love the fact people act like everything started with Harry Reid and McConnell only acted in response to him.
