Indeed, I would argue that Bush's refusal to admit an error in with regards to the war in Iraq was a major fault of his Presidency and helped exasperate existing divisions that predated him and exist still today.

Bush just going on TV and saying "hey, we're wrong" would not have been well-received by his political opponents. But he was also allergic to *defending* past decisions. His inability to look back at all hurt him.
