And as I have said many times before: if you like the War on Drugs, you'd love a War on Guns.

Here is my idea. 1) Create (or upgrade if its exists) a felony for not entering in crimes into the NICS database. 2) State-actions taken due to violence (i.e school dismissal) disqualifies one from gun ownership unless a clean bill of mental health is provided.

And would those new laws that are proposed have prevented any of the recent shootings.

Regarding gun laws, the first question is what is the NRA position. Via $$ they have hijacked any civil discussion of sensible gun laws-and enforcement-not because of the 2nd amendment -but to protect the profits of gun makers at the expense of human life. That is the truth.
-
The secret behind the NRA's influence is not its money. It gives a bit, but just to candidates who already favor its policies. Its real influence comes from its 5M members' votes. The NRA tells them which candidates are good or bad on gun issues, and many are single-issue voters.

Gun laws that are needed with zero tolerance (and I’m not advocating jail as punishment for them but forfeiture of all guns & the right to own in the future) 1. Using a gun in any crime 2. Straw purchases 3. Giving a gun to a prohibited user 4. Not properly securing your gun
-
So...zero tolerance but no sanction? That's not gonna have any effect at all.
