Casting aspersions on abstention or third party voters is easy when you vote in state the Democrat will win by 20 points.

You know that I'd vote for the Democrat if I were the last vote in perfectly tied country. I didn't have to vote for Clinton in RI, but I did, when Trump claimed the vote was going to be rigged. There's no middle ground in 2020, no matter how much you want there to be.

It’s not about middle ground. Again, voting for a candidate is an affirmative act. You can’t have your cake and eat it too, saying you’re not affirming the positions of the person you vote for but claiming one who doesn’t vote for the Democrat, “prefers” Trump. Not how it works.

And you are affirmatively saying you are OK if trump wins again. Sleep well.

And I will have Trump supporters telling me, "You are affirmatively saying you are OK if a socialist runs the military. Sleep well." I am so over this tired and absolutely intellectually lazy argument. That's all it is. Lazy.

"Lazy" is refusing to say that you see the Democrat and Trump as equally bad. I think it's your choice to say that, but you're ducking it.

A. That's a silly thing to say as we don't have two presidents we're deciding between. B. The lazy part is refusing to accept the affirmation of the policies and positions of the person you vote for. Instead, trying to project a "preference" on to someone not voting for Trump.

You don't think putting competent professionals in top national security and intelligence positions rather than loyalist hacks is worth affirming?

I didn't say that. Tom wants his cake and eat it too. He denies voting for Bernie is support for Bernie's policies but wants to pretend that not voting for Trump but also not voting for a Democrat is, in fact, support for Trump.

Now you’re just being slippery. If forced to choose between Trump and Bernie, I will choose Bernie for reasons that are irrelevant to policy, but important to the health of future self government in the United States. You prefer to abdicate any responsibility in that choice.

This is actually the point Tom is making. You may not *want* Trump to destroy the Republic, but by not voting against him (whether by voting for him, staying home, voting 3P, etc), you are *choosing* to allow him to do so.
