Obama, August 2016: "Of course the elections will not be rigged...this will be an election like every other election." Calls it a "conspiracy theory."https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLe9CW_jSw4 …

Obama, mid-October 2016: "There is no serious person out there who would suggest that you could even rig America's elections, in part because they are so decentralized...There is no evidence...that that will happen this time." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXpRswM-tzc …

Russia absolutely attempted to meddle in the 2016 election. It had various goals, both sowing discord & promoting Trump, esp in the primary. That was much discussed at the time! Obama, however, didn't do or say more then bc he didn't think it was in his political interests.

If you are arguing that a sitting Commander-in-Chief falsely reassured the American people that an upcoming election could not be rigged, simply because he was afraid to raise the alarm on his own, that's a sad commentary on him. https://twitter.com/neeratanden/status/1155514650416619523 …

I’m not arguing that, obviously, since the Obama Administration published the warning around October 6th 2016. I’m arguing Mitch McConnell did not follow suit with Senate action or bipartisan support. Another example of his weakness and recklessness on Russia.

Nice conflation of Obama’s critique of Trump’s saying the election was rigged with the Obama Administration’s statement on Russian hacking and interference. Does this work with other people?

If you seriously believed that the outcome of the election was harmed by something McConnell prevented Obama from doing, you would not defend Obama repeating his message at that juncture that the election would be free, fair & unrigged. You can't have it both ways.

You are conflating electoral vote rigging with Russia’s stealing emails that became a source of attack for Trump against Hillary. I mean I assume you’re smart enough to know the difference and you’re just playing a word game.

What did McConnell prevent Obama from saying in public, in your view?

McConnell prevented a bipartisan response to the election interference via hacking. Not particularly complicated. Obama reached for an all of government response, including the Congress. McConnell stymied that. But you already knew that.

This is a non-answer, as you know. What, specifically, could Obama have said or done, with Mitch, that he didn't do?
