Deciding that you just can't live with conservatives anymore, simply because of Trump, is a posture that makes sense only if you somehow believe that defeating Trump will make conservatives go away forever. American history suggests otherwise.

It should. Please try to spread the alarm to your NR colleagues. Too many of us in the right are failing to recognize that we are not engaging in a political argument with good faith interlocutors. That isn’t how it is, and it isn’t how the left sees it.
-
The left—the mainstream intellectual left—considers your politics evil and would forcibly silence you if they could. Too many at NR and elsewhere fail to appreciate this and act as if we’re having a conversation with the left about how to best promote shared values.

In my experience, most engagement with those on the mid to far right is relatively pointless for most on the left.; with opposite like true as well. We simply understand things differently, want different things and don't speak the same language. (1/2)

One could argue that there should be engagement for the sake of understanding...but I suspect neither side really understands the other. Most likely don't care...and it would do little to change things if they did.
