Let's face it, one reason people complain so much about the Electoral College is because they didn't learn about it in high school, and they don't think about it until it produces an outcome they don't like.

I take Chris's point that GOP opportunists will complain about the EC if it turns against them, but I won't be part of that chorus. Unless we're going to re-negotiate federalism itself, I don't know why we do this dance at all.

Institutional memory isn’t worth the erasure of voters across the country. The Republican in upstate New York and the Democrat in Kentucky deserve to contribute to the decision about who gets elected president.

That's ridiculous. Conservatives have thrown principle after principle out the window in the Trump era. They'd do it in a heartbeat the moment they lost the election but won the popular vote.
