I remember the Obama & Clinton presidencies, & to some extent Carter. They were not characterized by widespread conservative agitation to change the rules by which presidents are elected.
Historically, that’s true. But that’s also because there have only been four true cases of a popular vote/EC mismatch. You have to prefece by saying popuar votes weren’t well counted pre civil war. Point is pur system’s in danger of we keep getting minority Presidents from here.
It’s also telling the 1st 2 cases were clustered within 25 yrs of the civil war’s end.

Less durable? We've existed for three people's lifetimes and Donald Trump has taken over an entire political party and people regularly advocate for two separate Americas. I hate to break it to you, buddy, but this ain't durable.
